At the April 6, 2026 Anchorage School Board meeting, the Board voted to approve changes to future Anchorage School District (ASD) school year calendars.
The changes affect the 2026–27, 2027–28, and 2028–29 school years.
The updated calendars add three more days of school for teachers and students each year. These added days follow the new agreement with the Anchorage Education Association (AEA).

How is this different from the recent snow day changes?
The days added to the 2026-27 calendar are changes to NEXT YEAR and the following years, NOT our current 2025-26 calendar year.
Reminder: The recent 2025-26 school year calendar adjustments were made to reflect make-up days due to weather closures:
- Friday, April 17, 2026 – Now a full school day
- Thursday, May 21, 2026 – New last day of school for students
- Friday, May 22, 2026 – New last workday for teachers
